Is this something that is on or can be accessed or activated?

I second this. I check the ask for help section in the morning(Eastern time) and there is usually 3-4 pages of spam. I have started to just ignore the forums until 10-11 am once the mods wake up and start culling the spam.

Or even if you post 5+ topics in a 5 minute period then the following happens:

Flagged so a mod can easily see whether you posted legit topics or not.

No longer allowed to post new topics for x amount of time.

If you get flagged multiple times in a day then you get banned until a mod says otherwise.

Who really posts more then 5 topics in that short of time? Only spammers and very young gamers who have no patience(that'll teach them! B) ).

Why ahkscript.org? - autohotkey.com is outdated

ok here's what i have.
There's a max of 3 post per day for 14 days.
Once 5 posts have been "approved", They will be promoted from "New Members" to the normal "Members" group, and gain all normal permissions.

posts or new topics? Because a newbie could reply to a hot thread 3 times in an hour very easily...

Given that this mechanism is basically just for helping us deal with automated spam, I think that requiring us to approve a user's posts five times is counter-productive.  Nobody is going to intentionally approve a spam user's post, and even if one post was approved we can later flag the user as a spammer.

I'd suggest that only one post should need to be approved, basically to say "this user isn't a blatant spammer".

Brilliant! I didn't think of it. Done.

I like that unapproved posts dont show till approved, so it looks like theres no spam to normal users :)

So a mod needs to be on duty for a new user's help question to be seen? That's a bit of a drawback IMO. Is there a way to keep the limitation on new users posts prior to approval but still allow their posts to be seen?

Or is the spam still bad enough that this is required? (Actually this seems likely now that I think about it.)

Whatever system is implemented, it seems it can be defeated.  shrutishram joined today and was able to post at 31 times.  His posts were not labeled "unapproved" and he shown as a member; not as a new member.  I deleted a number of his posts and flagged him as spammer.  Posting Disabled  is now shown on his profile.

How was he able to post 31 times?

Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford told senators at his Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmation hearing : “If you want to talk about a nation that could pose an existential threat to the United States, I'd have to point to Russia. And if you look at their behavior, it's nothing short of alarming.”

I think this may have changed something as it seemed to work better before.

In any case we should have seen the post of these 2 individuals as "unapproved". They were not ...and they were regular members. These 2 posters were related as they had similar avatars.
