How to make window lose focus

I want to make a window lose focus without necessarily switching to another window. Currently I'm sending an alt tab, but that only works if there is another window open. I'm assuming the same for WinActivate. I tried using the windows key because that seems to work well when I do it manually but using a macro to do the same thing doesn't work.

Basically I need to have the window lose focus while sending the left or right key held down. Then, once that has happened I will have it switch back to the window using WinActivate. Is there a command that forces a window to lose focus? The other thing I'm thinking is activating the desktop. Is that possible? Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you! That worked perfectly for what I needed!
