BTW, what does this digital zoom 100:1 mean ? 100x ?

:)

TIFF Tag DigitalZoomRatio
IFD Exif
Code 41988 (hex 0xA404)
Name DigitalZoomRatio
Type RATIONAL
Count 1
Default None

Description
Indicates the digital zoom ratio when the image was shot.

If the numerator of the recorded value is 0, this indicates that digital zoom was not used.

Should of been 0 I wasnt using zoom. Shody Nokia programming as always :)

Thanks Superfraggle! Thats where I started with .. particularly, I spent a whole day with the doggy... it had been encoded in Motorola byte align.. which is difficult to read from. But basically those are small files. The data offsets can be anywhere .. even at the end of the image, so I am testing for speed with large photos.. right now the maximum time taken is 32ms in my slow 1.4ghz machine.

:)

I have some 8 MP and 10MP photos

EXIF should still be intact for both

Sony DSC-F828 examples (Alaska)
Gallery Link

Nikon D80 examples (Flying Kitties)
Gallery Link

The full size of each should be the original photo.
