I have a permenent edit zone in my desktop backgound where I can take notes on the go. The file is automatically saved at the momet the mouse quit the edit Zone(without asking anything.)

I made a simple Calculator to replace the windows's default. It keep your 3 last operations and results. It also take visually less space.

I also have a spell checker for msn and hotmail. Everytime I type a word with an accent(I speak french) I can correct it permanently.

I use the middle mouse button as a general Window drag. WhereEver I click on the window I can move it. It's very useful 'cause I have a 52" lcd on my wall where my computer is plug to. I run my Computer session in a resolution of 848X480(16:9)I used this resolution to get everything big because I'm at 11 feet from the screen. Sometimes, windows are higher then 480 pixels so I can't see the "ok" "apply" button in the window's bottom. So I can Drag the window easily to reach the bottom button.

All my keyboard key are double pressed and long pressed enabled so I can give more function to one key.

I control My TV, my satellite system and my lights with eventghost (and AutoHotKey). e.g. I took Pgup and pgDn button to control my light. Pgup raise light; double presse pgup light maximum; pgdn same as pgup but light inverted. PgUp+pgDn= light preset.

I have a total of 690 lines of code with AutoHotKey.

I use AutoHotkey as a general-purpose programming language.
I have also used it to (of course) automate some repetitive tasks that I've had (example: remove binaries from example folders or join similar elements in a text file).

I use it to solve the problems that regular software can't.

Which is A LOT.

To solve known automation problems, search for scripts on community forum.

Without AutoHotKey and its community, I would have been searching shareware sites for programs to do something like shutdown after 10 minutes and risking malware infection. :)
TypingAid autocompletion program made with AHK.

Autohotkey is a great application! :D
I, personally would like to thank the authors and all the people behind the scenes...

You all make it possible!
A newbie or even an advanced user will find it useful.

I use it to learn how to make some simple scripts, and thanks to ahk I can write my own program which I needed.
I learn how to write a script from the scratch, thanks to the helpful help file. Without it, I think it's impossible to write my own ahk script, because i don't have any programming language basic.

A few years ago I tried to learn vbasic, but I think it's hard to use. So I look for another programming language, and hey I found this site accidentally from the search engine.

I use ahk to perform these tasks:

- Monitoring free space over my hard drives and removables
- Launching many applications
- Closing unwanted pop up windows (like an error handler)
- Performs repetitive clicks and such
- Moving windows
- Auto eject and close for the disc drive
- Makes numpad keys as 'copy and paste'. So I have a lot of temporary clipboard.
- Simple desktop clock, music player, RGB color chooser
- Some GUI scripting

Well, I'm still a newbie hehe.. =P

And for the forum, it's a great place to learn and share, but I think the emoticons should be animated, more entertaining GIF (and cute maybe?)

I automate tasks that I do a lot (of course!). Some examples:
-Pause Key= close a window. Saves pressing two keys (alt+f4) every time I have to do this task!
-ctrl,alt,f pops up an I'm feeling lucky input box - basically a really fast way to get somewhere on the internet. Other combos for other common web searches
-Input box which will find and play a windows media player song/album/artist
-Compares previous two windows side-by-side on the screen
-a'a = á, n~n = ñ, etc, for spanish
-Hotstrings for common web passwords
-#e, #w, #+w each open 5 different commonly used folders (with up to 5 multiple taps)... I rarely have to find any other folders
-Variable timed shutdown for computer scans, etc
And so much more!!! Thank you autohotkey!!!

Hello Berban, it looks like that you haven't register yourself in this forum?
Why don't you register, so you could join us in this forum more often =)

Well, where do you learn all of these commands, is it from the forum or from the help file?

i use autohotkey to help write e-mail form-letters which are not suitable for "MS word mail merge" or similar software:

-attachments need to be downloaded from a database
-some database information needs to be processed/organized and conditionally added to e-mail messages

this requires autohotkey to interact with the user interfaces in repetitive ways.

Could you imagine if ahk doesn't released as a freeware? It wouldn't be improved like nowadays.
Why Windows (or other OS) don't have their own internal macro recorder or such. Hmm...

Done :)

If you were asking me about where I learned stuff, I learned almost everything from the help file. The coding is so intuitive anyone can do it (or at least I can) just by figuring it out.
