Wow, finally I got pygments working locally! :D Now I'm waiting for an answer from Github support why it doesn't work there. :?

No answer so far :?

What do you think of the small diagram I made about AHK versions? Any corrections? :D

I like how Iron isn't connected to anything. Cool diagram.

BTW, I have been working on those changes. I'll push when it's more complete.

I like the diagram :)
Is this produced dynamically or drawn manually :?:
Would be cool if time line is shown as well :)

Thanks :D
The diagram is done with PowerPoint. ;-) I guess a timeline would be difficult as the dimensions aren't really correct.

So I have some (possibly insane) so-called expertise about AutoHotkey, but I think that submitting additions through this forum (as I did with AHK_H) is better than by pull request for a few reasons:
- Peer review (as jaco0646 did)
- Avoids merge conflicts
- Don't need a full-blown fork for a single paragraph

Is it OK if I continue to suggest via the forums?

I think pull requests are better because of the organisation. If we have 15 pages being developed at one time, and we're all trying to do it in one thread, it's going to be chaotic.

On GH, each change becomes a pull request, you can do your formatting (headers, bold text etc.), diffs are right there, and there can be comments made on a per change basis. It also makes it easier to update the article in question based on peer review comments and make those changes very obvious.

Of course you can submit anything through the forum, it will still be welcome.

But Frankie is right, the organisation is better on github, with pull requests, comments, ...
Reviewing can also be done on github, if you like, just link your pull requests here :)

Edit: I merged Frankie's pull request now, which changed the look a lot. Check it out.

Edit 2: Anyone running an english OS here? Could you please solve this issue?
The source code is
MsgBox, 36, a question, Would you like to say 'Hello, World'?
(but if you have a better idea for the text, replace it! It's just about a MsgBox with options + title...)
DONE! Thanks Uberi!

I'm wondering whether an explicit license should be added? Any suggestion / opinions / arguments?

Ideas:[*:1wo1j387]GFDL?
[*:1wo1j387]any Creative Commons?
[*:1wo1j387]WTFPL?Regards

I'd go for a CC-BY license as my first choice, but GFDL second.

CC-BY seems to be the most liberal of the listed licenses.

I usually go liberal for licenses, but I think CC-BY-NC-SA works best for this project. The difference between this one and CC-BY is the difference between GPL and BSD. Different approaches to "freedom."

More liberal than WTFPL? Btw, the list are just ideas, some I know, you may of course suggest others

Not sure, but the "non-commercial" is attracting me somehow ;-) I'm not sure if I'm understanding it correct: does it mean you must not redistribute it commercially, or does it mean you must not "use" (= read?) it commercially?

And what about "share alike"?

I think CC-BY-NC-SA works best for this project

(As long as there's no better suggestion or a new convincing argument) I agree with you.

btw: still no answer from github support :? Either they forgot, or it takes some time to fix it.

I guess I didn't read the list carefully enough :).

Noncommercial would be something to consider, though.

Thats cool. I just saw your project and want to begin with a common critism. :D I often tried to write tutorials or books (never finished) and have some thoughts about writing books. My main critic is, you begin to write about things, which a real beginner into AHK is not interested in (in my opinion). Examples:

Why begin with a coding environment? Why do you tell the fresh user about things like GuiCreator or TillGoto? Just tell him that any editor will do fine with the first scripts and do not scare him. It looks complicated, what AHK is NOT.

On the first steps topic: That looks more like I would do it. This should come earlier into action "Your first script". It is more interesting to try out scripts against to read multiple "boring" pages about some theory. Try to hold your reader with interesting stuff and scripts to try out.

And then, on that first script topic, you describe the escape sequences. This would scare any non programmer and is very uninteresting. Such topics like escape sequences should be handled later, if more deep knowledge is needed.

The guides to help and forum is good at that point.

And then, the new user should not be bugged with many theory. Do not confuse the beginner with all possible things in that language. Just start with hotkeys. Explain in small steps between the lessons. It is too logically based sorted.

The book looks more like a manual to discover if you know what you need, not really good for sequencially reading like a good book.

And text-align:justify makes too big spaces around the words. I do not like that look and makes reading it harder. A regular left aligned text would be better (for me and I think for most readers).

Hope you do not shoot me now, maul.esel. :D I like your project. Someone had to do it earlier, AHK needs it. These are just my points how to make it better.
