This sounds like an argument for thread categories, i.e. tags.
I started reading that thread, its a 72-pager. Although in theory I like the idea quite a lot, I don't think that any forum questions lend themselves well to being bunched together, you can't then easily discuss them or come back to (extended discussing) an old question. (I was actually wanting to post some content on page 2, which would have appeared on page 72?!)
Also, whether you combine questions into one thread or not, it will be hard to meaningfully search for a specific RegEx question. They are one of the harder topics to find good keywords for. This is one reason for my tutorial approach, to anticipate good keywords where possible:

If all RegEx questions had a RegEx tag, then they would be much easier to find.
One possible solution would be to give OPs and mods the ability to add question tags to a post, stored in a database. You could then search for posts with a specific tag. E.g. each month I could check for new posts with a RegEx tag.
