Btw there are a few links in the forum that point to auto-hotkey.com, if those might have some automatic text replacement, special handling, or automatic redirection. Just thought I'd mention. Cheers.

Okay, I will send an email.
Might I suggest to redirect the .net links to a thread on the forums explains what happened and links to the scripts archive we have :+1:

Well I'm no expert but if somebody else already got the domain, how are we going to get it back?
( It now redirects somewhere when I navigate there )

Re: AutoHotkey.net domain name has expired

Post by joedf » 31 May 2017, 07:27

or we get the domain ... :/

Re: AutoHotkey.net domain name has expired

Post by nnnik » 30 May 2017, 08:55

We were too late and with this. Now we need to change all the links in the backup forum, or shut it down.
That is unless we want to provide some potentially malicous sites with visitors from our forums.

That's closed. Discussed over and over.

imo, a "collaboration" section would be used less correctly. People would probably ask for help with a task there instead of in AFH. or they would ask for a person or two to help so they don't have to do the work (laziness or they don't know how, just want quick help). It'd probably turn into one of the many topics we get: "somebody help me make this" *clicks topic* "oh, he has nothing, he literally means 'do it for me' just worded differently"

But then there has to be people willing to work as a team. There will be some, but probably not a lot. My guess is it'll be the same handful of pros/forum regulars willing to work together. And maaaybe a few small groups of new people (which has a pretty good chance of turning out like mentioned above. "do this for me". Thats how a lot of topics we get are, aswell as on irc and probably discord).

but this is getting offtopic now.

Yeah back to this old issue, collaboration forums and whatnot:

New forum sections proposal. - AutoHotkey Community
https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7060

Btw the poll options on that page are slightly misleading, perhaps read some of the other posts there and/or my posts for a summary.

[EDIT:] Collaboration, general AutoHotkey/splitting up 'Offtopic' and other forum ideas.

Re: AutoHotkey.net domain name has expired

I still highly think we need a GENERAL AUTOHOTKEY section. It'd avoid confusion that the OP might have had.
and in the first 2 pages of Offtopic, there's atleast 13 topics that'd fit in the GENERAL AUTOHOTKEY section. Probably more. Some would fit fine in both areas.

Talking about ahk in an ahk forum isn't offtopic. but there's no general place to place most ahk related topics (besides AFH and S&F).
