there is but its painful to dig out one specific post. one of those rare situations where a complete restore would do more harm than good
I re did the post from your backup

Is there not a backup of all posts? Or perhaps there is but only for recent months?

I backed up my posts as txt files (i.e. what you see in the Edit box) and it came to just under 3MB. Since my posts are 1,324 (0.96%) of 138,109 posts, then on that basis you could back up the forum's posts taking only around 300MB.

i thoought the word one was a backup of TLM's post
you mentioned having such a back up if thats not it can i have it?
I did find the problem the DB cant handle a post the size limited to 65535 bytes I may consider changing that feild to long blob

I was going to post both of these ahk files, as posts, but they were causing the problem:
https://github.com/jeeswg/AutoHotkey-sc ... excel).ahk
https://github.com/jeeswg/AutoHotkey-sc ... (word).ahk

I didn't want to try posting them via private message, because I was concerned that that might also get things messed up, and cause the same error, and I wouldn't necessarily have a way to fix it. I have potentially irreconcilable problems with messaging.

The contents of both files caused the error message, but for both of them when I removed some of the content, they worked, so perhaps a specific string is causing the problem, or perhaps something about the way the post looks, some pattern in the text, when there is a certain number of such lines, is causing the problem. Perhaps some sort of cross-site scripting error?

@User: Cheers.

Nice to see you've created your github account!

It will be extremely easier for you now to organize your things! Keep the good work!

IM, do you mean direct message on the forum, IRC, Discord? I haven't used IRC or Discord before.

I'm on IRC as 'kiwibis...' (the website is called 'Kiwi IRC').

[EDIT:] OK I'm on both IRC and Discord as jeeswg.

[EDIT:] I've uploaded the constants lists here:

Re: Can't Access Thread

OK, I found my backup copy of the page. TLM's intro post and Excel constants posts are the same. The Word constants post has been replaced with an asterisk.

I plan to repost my content, but in two smaller posts in a new thread, instead of one big post.

We could create a test thread, where we post the 2 combined posts, or other large posts, to see if it causes a similar error. The things I thought it might be, with no specialist knowledge on the subject: too much text, too many urls, closed the tab before the 'busy' icon on the Internet Explorer tab had finished.

as to if TLM is missing a post I will have to leave that to him.

Re: Can't Access Thread

Post by tank » 30 Jun 2017, 20:49

I would love to know what in your post might have caused that

Re: Can't Access Thread

Post by jeeswg » 30 Jun 2017, 19:54

OK, I replaced my post with a hyphen, THE THREAD APPEARS TO BE WORKING AGAIN. I could put my original post back again, but I won't do that without confirming first. I think that perhaps one of TLM's posts has been replaced with an asterisk.

Nope never happened before

Re: Can't Access Thread

Post by jeeswg » 29 Jun 2017, 18:38

OK well in the first hours of July 2017 (UTC), I'll try setting my post's contents to just a hyphen. Unless anyone wants more time, or to make a suggestion.

Btw has anything else like this happened before? Cheers.

not that i am aware of other than database field size. exceeding that should generate a different kind of error

@nnnik: Both of us have expressed a wish to try things before giving up. Plus, if my editing the post, does actually work, it will save some bother.

[EDIT:] Btw is there a limit for the size of a post/a thread page/a thread?

Re: Can't Access Thread

Post by nnnik » 12 Jun 2017, 00:59

He could edit the post at any given time just leave it be.

Re: Can't Access Thread

Post by jeeswg » 11 Jun 2017, 17:15

OK, how about this: I'll edit my post on 1st July, (make it almost blank,) in case that fixes it.

That would give you around 20 more days to experiment, and if the thread is still inaccessible after I edit my post, you could then experiment more, or perhaps give up. Cheers.

Cheers. Do tell me before you ever reach that point, and I'll try editing my post before you change things in case it fixes things.

One possibility was that it was trying to do a preview and a submit both at the same time. Maybe that confused things, or it's still waiting for one of those actions to finish (another wild guess cf. earlier suggestions above by me).
