Re: Collecting vars directly from string instead of notepad

I had to use Ungreedy because it wouldn't stop at finding the very next word after the first two. And once I made it ungreedy, I had to add the look-ahead for whitespace after it so it would continue including the whole word until the space and not just the first letter found. What you're now descri...

Re: close all windows but 1

It sounds like it's because when you run it by itself, the window for your app is still in the process of being created so it doesn't show up in the list. When you run it from a button click, then your script's window had time to be established and is included in the list.

Re: Collecting vars directly from string instead of notepad

For example If I copy this entire post to the clipboard and use it as haystack how do I use the word Green in my NeedleRegEx to pick up the third word two lines below that word, so that the result is an outputvar with the value "below"? Haystack = ( For example If I copy this entire post ...

Re: Collecting vars directly from string instead of notepad

Nice example showing pretty much exactly what the OP wants. Note that you can store the exact target match in Outputvar directly by having the needle isolate the match from the look-behind part: Haystack := "Elvis Presley`nImpersonators Reflect`non His Legacy 40 Years After..." RegExMatch(...

Re: Collecting vars directly from string instead of notepad

You don't get a position. The RegExMatch statement would return the exact text you're looking for by finding the static word as well as the appropriate number of CR/LF characters (along with the unknown text between them) then get the text you want. Don't think about it as knowing what position or r...

Re: Collecting vars directly from string instead of notepad

That could be done with a single RegExMatch command.

I agree, but the 11 bold looks good too. Seems easier to read.

Re: CodeQuickTester - Write and run code without touching the file system

I would interpret it as you have more votes for keeping it about the same. I voted for 10, and I'd much rather have 9 than 12.

Re: How to sendinput to a password field?

Did you try it? Being logged in as admin isn't necessarily the same as running the script as admin. It might be because the browser or whatever it's interacting with is running as an elevated process on one machine but not another. Or it could be the difference in Windows UAC settings between the ma...

Re: execute string only as long as a button is pushed down?

Then you'll have to store that info in an array and have a function that interprets it and executes it. The way you have it, it won't do the check for F1 being released in between each.

Re: execute string only as long as a button is pushed down?

Yeah, crimson, not only is Nextron's code way more efficient, yours doesn't check to see if the key was released after each character. You also don't need to send a down and up for every key you send, especially since a capital letter is not a key, it's a character that involves a shift, so your app...

Re: execute string only as long as a button is pushed down?

Make a F1 hotkey that loops until GetKeyState shows that it is released. Inside that loop, send the next character in your string after the desired fraction of a second has passed.

Re: "Frame on window active" to "frame on every windows have been active"

It's not a simple mod to the script you posted because you need to have it create multiple frame GUIs, and you need to associate each with the window it is associated with so that you can recognize which GUI to destroy when its associated window becomes active. Given that description of how to do it...

Re: Indent left-aligned text in GUI button

What you said about needing to enclose it in % signs when you use it later has nothing to do with how it is initially assigned. What you quoted from the documentation is of course right, but your statements before are still incorrect. You don't enclose a variable in % in expression format (unless yo...

Re: Indent left-aligned text in GUI button

The % symbol forces expression format, and in expression format, literal strings are enclosed by quotation marks.
