Re: WinMove difference between script & executable Topic is solved

I tested your script. It works just perfectly fine for me. Both the Compiled and Uncompiled versions.
I run Win 7 Pro, 32 bit. Running AHK version 1.1.28.00.

ControlGetPos does not find RATINGS control in PROPERTIES window

In this script, I am trying to "mechanically" set a value for a RATINGS for a file. I open a file's PROPERTIES, click the DETAILS tab, find the position of the RATINGS (the 5 stars) control and click the appropriate star. (Please don't change the issue and tell me I should be doing this &q...

Re: if statement influences floating point number

Yes, strings should never be interpreted as numbers, imo.

I don't think there is ANYTHING humble about your opinion. It should be carved in stone. If not so in V2 (which I have yet to use), something needs to be changed there.

what is a shortcut's working directory?

what is a shortcut's working directory?

Specifically, when is a shortcut's "working directory" not the directory of the shortcut target itself?

Re: INIWRITE evaluates its 1st parameter inconsistently Topic is solved

I thought it was a bug. Nothing was written to c:\my.ini but ErrorLevel was set to 0. The stupid part was the 5th parameter. I think allowing commas to not be escaped in the final parameter is horrible. (fortunately that goes away in Version 2, but the conversion of hundreds of routines to V2 will t...

INIWRITE evaluates its 1st parameter inconsistently Topic is solved

The following writes the string "substr(folder_use 2)" to the INI file: IniWrite, substr(folder_use 2), c:\my.ini, Settings, folder_rec However, the following does not write anything to the INI file: IniWrite, substr(folder_use,2), c:\my.ini, Settings, folder_rec2 1. It appears in case 2 t...

Re: Hotstring doesn't trigger in Excel 2010

I know nothing about excel ... but, it looks like your sending commands to excel. my guess is they are being sent too fast for excel to handle. add some sleeps.

Overlapping GUI controls and G-labels

Apparently, the sequence in which GUI controls are created is relevant. I can not find this documented anywhere. Specifically, it appears that when two controls with g-labels are created and they overlap (partially or fully), when clicking a location where they overlap, the G-label of the first cre...

Re: Gui, Add, Text LINK documentation problem Topic is solved

Duh, my bad.... I didn't even look at the LINK thingy. Just clicked it. I hadn't clicked the "HERE" part.

(Of course, I could complain: why isn't that LINK stuff not fully documented? (yes, I suspect it is plain old HTML code--but, I don't know HTML).)

thanks guys

SEND and special characters

The following sends an "Alt" character:

What does the following send?

Code: [Select all]GeSHi © Codebox Plus

	a := "!"
send, %a%

The documentation for SEND does not make the answer to this question at all obvious.

GUI shortcut keys

At the doc for GUI, ADD for controltype TEXT the use of a shortcut key (letter preceded by ampersand to indicate keyboard shortcut) in the TEXT parameter is mentioned and a pointer (link) to "shortcut key" at "Keyboard navigation" exists. However, none of the other GUI ADD contro...

What is a PARENT window?

The documentation for +PARENT (found in the GUI topic) says the following: Parent [v1.1.03+]: Use +Parent immediately followed by the name or number of an existing Gui or the HWND of any window or control to use it as the parent of this window. To convert the Gui back into a top-level window, use -P...

what does "=" do?

At the documentation for OPERATORS In EXPRESSIONS (part of VARIABLES AND EXPRESSIONS), =, while it is shown, IS NOT DEFINED. There the doc states: Equal (=), case-sensitive-equal (==), and not-equal (<> or !=). The operators != and <> are identical in function. The == operator behaves identically to...

Re: what does "=" do?

I've been writing this language for some 10 years, and I still can't always figure out the stupid expression crap. I think V2 fixes that--but from what I've seen, V2 is so drastically different, it will take another 10 years before I get there. Gee, I'm 67. Hope I make it.

Re: what does "=" do?

Gregster.... sorry, I just realized my error... The question should have been, and is now(just edited it), "why does the 2nd example not set var equal to 3?" Secondly, I should have supplied the code that was problematic. It is: resize := 0 pos_w := 555 pos_tempW := 666 new_W := resize = 1...

what does "=" do?

From what I understand, the equal sign is used to assign. For example, in the following a = now is the time a is assigned the value "now is the time" (a string, without, of course, the quotes). How does one make an arithmetic comparison then? At the documentation for OPERATORS, =, while it...

Re: Gui text field does not span multiple lines when text is changed

@Hellbent Not really a issue of it being broken, if you gave enough space for any text when you created the control it would have no problem adding all your text when you did the switch. I don't want my TEXT control to be wider than the GUI in which it occurs. And, since the additional text may be o...

WORD WRAP in GUI TEXT control

I would like to see the documentation for GUI, ADD, TEXT include the following:

When automatic word-wrapping is enable in a TEXT control, any words which by necessity would need to be split (at the end of a row) are, instead, truncated.

(or, of course, some similar language)

Thank you

Re: Gui text field does not span multiple lines when text is changed

@Hellbent My sincere apologies. I quickly browsed your code and saw "gui, destroy" and assumed that what you were doing was what was originally doing. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I was indeed ignorant. While your code is indeed messy, but it does what I want without destroying ...
