Re: Stringleft, stringright and substr: ALLOW PAD string

I would say NO. I can't figure out how to use format()to pad with anything other than a space. It's documentation only mention padding in 2 regards: (1) padding with spaces and (2) suppressing padding. In addition, I find the format() function to be absurdly complicated (Yes, if you need all that, t...

Stringleft, stringright and substr: ALLOW PAD string

Revised commands STRINGLEFT, STRINGRIGHT and SUBSTR() function. I would like to see these handle an additional PAD parameter. The new syntax being: StringLeft, OutputVar, InputVar, Count, Pad StringRight, OutputVar, InputVar, Count, Pad NewStr := SubStr(String, StartPos [, Length[,Pad]]) For...

Re: StrJoin bulitin function

I just had this problem and posted a query "does strsplit have a converse?" I believe the answer should be NO NEW FUNCTION. The solution for simple cases is so trivial that a new command/function would, IMHO, be silly. HOWEVER !!! I think what SHOULD BE DONE is to post the very simple &quo...

Re: Create a string from an array without looping

@Bobo oooh, is that ugly.... But, thanks, and, no my array varies. I think that's the point. I'm no loopaphobe... just thought it would be much more than it works out to be. it's so easy, I don't even think it would be worth having a command. I just learned FOR, so the loop is not ugly and probably ...

@jeeswg - I looked at your code. Thank you for pointing it out. But, what I don't understand (and this is rhetorical) is why do people us IE? As a firefox user, I have no problem with the help online (in regard to the font size). I can easily change the magnification level of any page and the Firefo...

Subject: MORE FONT PROBLEMS using the help .CHM file As I mentioned before, one problem with the .CHM file is the font sizes. Each time the file is opened, the fonts revert to size 3 (of the 1 (smallest) to 5 (largest)). I want the fonts to be size 4 ALWAYS. Should not be a problem. But, it's a huge...

Create a string from an array without looping

Stringsplit nicely creates an array (pseudo or real) from a string. Is there a way to create a string from an array WITHOUT USING A LOOP? I believe the array would have to be an object (not a "pseudo" array). Put more simply: Does Stringsplit have a converse? I'm using Stringsplit to creat...

Re: How do I extract values from an array for use as option in a command? Topic is solved

@Jeeswg:

Thanks.... works like a charm. The doc makes you think you can't use an expression in a command. I think it needs to differentiate between explicit and implicit (like above) expressions (and those stupid "IF" expressions).

How do I extract values from an array for use as option in a command? Topic is solved

I tried pseudo arrays, Select1 Select2..., and decided the code was messy and doc says don't use them!!! So, I wrote this: select := [1,0,1,0] folderct := 4 loop, %folderct% { a := select[a_index] gui, 98: add, checkbox, Section checked%a% x20 y+10 vSel%a_index% } Works perfectly fine. But, I hate i...

Ini4ahkl - old forum has dead links

I was exploring to see what people have written to assist using .INI files and I came across https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/57985-ahk-l-ini4ahkl-v05/ From what I read, it sounds like it would be great. Sadly, the old forum only has a link to the code. Does anyone have a copy of INI4AHKL.ahk he c...

what does this code do? Would you expect me to read the source code for Windows to learn how Windows works? After having written code for over 40 years, I've learned the value of documenting what I write--even when it is only for myself. Especially when that 40 year old code still works perfectly fi...

What is a THREAD? Doc for THREAD does not precisely define what constitutes a thread. It says: The current thread is defined as the flow of execution invoked by the most recent event; examples include hotkeys, SetTimer subroutines, custom menu items, and GUI events. 1. Documentation: GUISIZE The documentation at GUISIZE states very succinctly: GuiSize: Launched when the window is resized, minimized, maximized, or restored. This is FAR FROM COMPLETE. Thanks for taking the time to look at this to everyone who replied. The fact that you verified it worked on your systems further validated that something was wrong with AutoHotKey 1.1.27.00 (although it would have been great if someone had actually tried it on that EXACT version.) So, I delved furth...

Choosecolor function works in 1.1.24. Fails in 1.1.27.

I feel this is bug, but I have learned to not jump the gun, so I'm starting in this forum. The subject script is from the old AHK forum, here: https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/7984-ahk-functions-incache-cache-list-of-recent-items/page-6 It works fine in AHK 1.1.24.03. It causes a Windows 0xC000000...
