Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP on April 8. Just in case you're not sure if you are running Windows XP, you can check here:

Why would you want to use XP? It's a dozen year old operating system that has far outlived its relevancy.

well i think you only need to look at what you posted to know what will be faster
I have been on win7 for quite a while now but i have a vbox of xp.
I like xp but i like 7 better

the unfortunate truth is that Xp is stable and reliable and the hardware requirements for upgrade are costly. There is no upgrade path to 8. and finally they are not selling 7 anymore.
2 of the top executives responsible for the forcefed metro have been kicked by the new CEO. I honestly would try and wait it out till something appropriate comes out to replace 8. I view all the iterations of 8 as the new ME. we saw how quick they replaced that with XP

Yes, retail sales ended on October 31, 2013 but you can continue to buy Windows 7 for another year or so if it is pre-installed on a PC.

According to the research firm NetApplications.com, Windows XP accounts for a 29.53 percent share of all desktop systems, including Macintosh and Linux, still in use around the world. That's second only to Windows 7, which has a 47.31 percent share.

Within just the Windows-using world, XP accounts for a 32.5 percent share, second to Windows 7 at 52.08 percent, but far ahead of Microsoft's newest versions, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, with 7.02 percent and 4.74 percent shares, respectively. :ugeek:

Windows market share (percentage)

-- 52.08 - Windows 7

-- 32.5 - Windows XP

-- 7.02 - Windows 8

-- 4.74 - Windows 8.1

-- 3.42 - Window Vista

-- 0.2 - Windows NT

-- 0.04 - Windows 2000

It's pretty awesome on the Surface though (or any tablet), that's undeniable.

Right and if Microsoft had seen fit to continue supporting a full desktop as well i don't think there would be objections

Chineses will still have a Windows xp support http://www.pcworld.com/article/2103680/ ... pport.html
It is a cycle, new thing needs time,... 2.0 < 3.11, 95 < 98, ME < XP, vista < 7 , 8 < 9?
Also, Windows 8.1 will cost around 15$ for low cost product seller (war with android), for example http://www.zdnet.com/microsofts-new-tac ... 000027070/

Maybe Microsoft don't. I regularly set up new Windows 7 systems, both towers and laptops. Windows 7 OEM is still available, and Windows 8 Pro includes downgrade rights to Windows 7.

Sure, but below the surface...
