I understand that AutoHotKey was having tremendous problems with spammers in the past, but where the security check is placed seems a bit odd and shocking. For a second, didn't know if I came to the right place. I wonder if it has any negative effects on casual people that might be interested in AutoHotKey.
Why not allow the website to load first, then the security check comes on when you click the forum or downloads?
AutoHotKey Website Security Check
Re: AutoHotKey Website Security Check
There's some checking... I wouldn't say the most sofisticated, but it serves its purpose for the budget and workforce we have :/
What particular checks are you referring to?

The "I am not a robot" security check.
Re: AutoHotKey Website Security Check
That only happens very rarely. It might just mean that someone did some bad stuff some time ago with the IP you had at that point.SOTE wrote:The "I am not a robot" security check.
Recommends AHK Studio
Re: AutoHotKey Website Security Check
Hmmmm... IPs on that DHCP, so I hope people are not on the bad list forever. It does seem to behave better, once you pass the security check. It looks like now, ypu can at least see the AutoHotkey website, before the security check. That's better, as at least you know that you came to the right place.
Re: AutoHotKey Website Security Check
The security check is not rare, but happens a lot. About every time I have ever come to the AutoHotKey site. And sometimes, it's extremely annoying. You can be forced to go through 2 or 3 rounds of testing from captcha to prove you are not a robot. The AutoHotKey website also can load very slowly at times. Taking 3 to 4 minutes to open the forum.
My concern is that not everybody is that patient or enthusiastic to go through that. I can imagine some newer users just being done with it and going elsewhere. And other websites don't have this type of issue. I was just thinking that it is something to keep an eye on.
