Any open-source text expansion abbreviations dictionary?

25 Oct 2017, 09:47

I use AutoHotkey for text expansion, and I've built up a fair-sized dictionary of abbreviations (27k or so).
Most I generated via a VBA script I wrote; the remainder I added manually.
I may release mine whenever I get the chance to tidy it up,
but does anybody know if a similar dictionary exists out there?
I haven't been able to find one by googling

How about the autocorrect for this forum? It's pretty good, it seems to catch all my mistakes, even 'adn' to 'and'.

The forum does not implement an autocorrect. It must be your browser...

I use Internet Explorer. It corrects tehy to they, seperate to separate, internett to internet. I can't seem to get adn to and any more. It would be useful to have a full list, I was thinking this within the last few days. Plus I would really like to create a hotstrings-like script for a webpage if possible.

ie/edge (or atleast on win10. iirc, it can be enabled/disabled) has built-in spell checking. most browsers do these days. pretty sure spell checks don't have a giant list of every word and typo variation. they probably have a list and fuzzy match. if what you type isn't in the list, suggest the best matches. If nothing comes close, nothing is suggested.

this kind of thing has been done before in ahk, such as by Uberi, and others.

Yes, there’s also the Damerau–Levenshtein string distance that I find quite useful.

this is a Windows feature. it does it for me on Skype too, and in the Metro apps

Win 10 -> Settings app -> Devices -> Typing -> Spelling

Cheers joedf, tidbit and guest3456 for the information.
I did a search for: internet explorer autocorrect.

Windows 7, Internet Explorer 11: Tools, Internet options, Programs tab, Manage add-ons

The thing I'm curious about now is which types of elements are affected.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
Actually, I'm not so interested in autocorrect as in a large list of abbreviations and expanded words to help reduce the number of keystrokes taken to type anything.
That doesn't seem to exist out there, at least not for free!
