How important is two-way compatibility function library?

Talk about anything

How important is two-way compatibility with AHK v1.1 and v2-alpha?

Devs should focus more time on an official library and tweaking functionality to enable easier transition from 1.1 to 2-alpha.

Maybe would be valuable once alpha becomes beta; but it might make more sense to just convert everything at the point desired.

Neutrally interested; there's too much overhead.

Opposed; i.e. just pick a language and code that way; like you would C vs Java; or Python 2 vs 3.

i have done this for the Gdip library with the help of others:
https://github.com/mmikeww/AHKv2-Gdip

however, v2 was explicitly created to BREAK COMPATIBILITY, which means that it will be infeasible to accomplish this for some code. eventually you will just be converting everything back down to DllCalls and directly going through the winapi, which defeats the purpose of using AHK altogether.

so i voted neutral

alternatively you could help building v1->v2 converter:
