When doing a Google search, there are times that you will find the answer for a question (or at least inspiration) on Stackoverflow or Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoHotkey/). Not only those places, but there is Donation Coders (http://www.donationcoder.com) and various AutoHotkey people with blogs that answer questions or have post up code. Thinking outside the box, you might find the solution was done with AutoIt or WinBatch, which is close enough language wise, that you might can make an AutoHotkey version or at least get an idea about how to do something.

Of course here would be a good place to start and the most likely place to find the answer.

Which had some awful initial comments and downvoting, as can be seen in the pictures on Quora, but which subsequently got a good number of upvotes before being eventually deleted!?

Asking AHK questions on Stack Overflow probably isn't too bad, but you'd get a faster better answer here. It seems few Stack Overflow questions get upvotes, (a) how many people will see it (I get ~100, more for the more obvious questions), (b) how many people will think oh this is such a special question I'll upvote it, (c) the more popular the language, the more likely it'll be taken down as duplicate.

Asking other sorts of questions, or adding question tags that might bring in users from other programming languages, that might be less nice.

It's a chore to write code on Stack Overflow, and I'm worried something awful will happen whenever I do anything on Stack Overflow, e.g. a minor edit to an old post. The best-case scenario, editing an answer leads to your answer getting re-edited 5 times by mods, and it's a bit of a chore to just click Yes on all the edits.

I like Stack Overflow more or less, but the experience is probably the worst of any website in existence.

yes, good Summary . yes, In a way a place of Fear but i like it. for many years i dont used it. then a day a CEO asked my about, whey he cant find me there. so i started to use it
