fincs' status & project updates

Hello AutoHotkey Community,

As some of you may have noticed, my activity has been practically zero lately. This was mainly due to several things going on in my life, and I decided to use the little spare time I had to focus on other projects that had at the time appeared. However, those time consuming things are finally done after several hectic months. Moreover, I have recently built a powerful new development machine which will allow me to improve the way I work.

Second, I want to apologize for the lack of updates to SciTE4AutoHotkey. Nevertheless, I've been very slowly working on it when I could. In a few weeks (or maybe less) I'd like to roll out a new release which will include mainly bugfixes and syntax definition updates. Also, I've noticed the current discussion thread is really long and painful to read (and so are the threads of other editors). Therefore I request the support of the forum staff to create a new subforum in which support threads related to AutoHotkey script editors as well as release announcements can be created. This section would apply to all editors, including but not limited to SciTE4AutoHotkey, AHK Studio, Sublime Text and Notepad++. In the mean time, I'd like SciTE4AutoHotkey users to take a look at the latest commits and point out bugs that have already been reported but which I've missed.

Lastly, I want to say that I still have the v2 Gui redesign project and the Ahk2Exe changes in mind. I'll get to them when I'm done updating SciTE4AutoHotkey.

Thanks to everybody for appreciating my work,
fincs

Sounds like a good idea. +1.

I've noticed. And, I'm really glad to hear from you again. :)

A subforum seems like a really good idea to reduce long and cluttered topics.
It seems that this is the way go? : AutoHotkey->Script editors->[SciTE4AutoHotkey, AHK Studio, Sublime Text, Notepad++, ...]

Looking forward to what you have for us!
Cheers, and welcome back

  • Display: 1080p 21.5'' monitor
Compared to my previous system (a 1st gen Surface Pro), it's night and day.

Nice machine, now you only need to get one more monitor, setup the dual screen, and work like a god!

I'm sure you did. That's a lot of coin. About $1,115 US. :beard: It's almost enough to buy a Mac! Without a monitor of course. ;)

I'm late on the topic (I've been busy myself! More than a year!! ) but yeah great news! I hope you can start working again on the v2 gui redesign. The API is really awesome. Unfortunately, the latest version I compiled from source is crashing when handling a button event! :eh: But yeah it's really great news you're back! Thank you for all the effort you put into those projects.

I like the subforum idea. +1
Also, if it's not too much to ask, I'd like to see some support for Emacs as well. As of now, there's no editing mode for AHK v2 in Emacs. Sadly, I'll be busy again after this post  . Considering my low number of posts, it's really awful! But if I get the time, I 'm seriously thinking of learning the necessary skills to write my own AHK v2 mode for Emacs. Editing support for AHK, especially v2, is close to zero there. Well, not really surprised since it's a Linuxy editor but I use NTEmacs a lot and the fingers are just too used to Emacs.

Well, that's it. Thank you again for everything!

I just noticed this thread since you referenced it from a recent post in another thread. Did this subforum not get created because it was decided against or just hasn't happened yet? I think it is a great idea. Not only would it be helpful for the script editors who have clear owners like SciTE4AutoHotkey and AHK Studio, but especially for those that don't because they don't have a single person as a focal point. A subforum like this would allow their users to more easily share updates, fix broken links, provide tips, etc.

I don't know really. I think it's just nobody really got to it yet. I don't remember anyone saying it was a bad idea, why not I guess hmmm :P

Cool. I hope it happens. I could see it really helping the developers too as there would be separate threads for things like wish lists that otherwise get buried and possibly forgotten in their current massive threads.
