IPB as implemented on autohotkey.com is terrible for tablets. There are several features of a post that aren't visible without hovering the mouse over them, which means I can't see them when I'm using my iPad (which is a lot).

Btw, it seems like it has been pretty much decided to get rid of the image on the landing page, but to help drive a stake into its heart, did anyone notice that it's an Apple keyboard in that image? Kind of silly to have that on the landing page of the website for a language that doesn't run on Apple computers.

It's true that someone could be using an Apple keyboard when programming in AHK. I've even done it myself using that very keyboard with my iPad remotely logged into my PC. But it shouldn't be used as the face of the AHK site.

Not that it's that big of a deal, but it is kind of funny to see it there. It's sort of like when Samsung sends a tweet and it shows that it was sent using an iPhone.

I agree with fincs and justme

15 Mar 2015, 23:14

My vote for PHPBB - I was rather put out when autohotkey.com changed it's forum - and even more put out that everything got broken. It's still broken.
And I don't much care for Lithium.
And I also agree with everything that Fincs said..

Polyethene has agreed to work with us by paying for a new server and handle server maintenance.
Are you shitting me? Does it mean that he will still have admin/root access to everything? Wasn't the whole purpose of this site to get rid of the guy?

Anyway, I don't think commercial softwares for forums are a good idea (Invision Power Board, XenForo vBulletin), you have to pay a license for those, why would you do that if there are dozens of free and possibly better open source alternatives.
Check out what people at AlternativeTo think about forum softwares: http://alternativeto.net/software/phpbb/

fincs' ideas about redirections are a must, especially DAILY BACKUPS, but regarding github, I'd say that all updated AHK forks and projects should be merged into a single "account". L, v2, Basic/Classic, H/DLL, .NET/IronAHK, CE/Mobile (did I miss any?).

My only suggestion for the actual forum is: let's have selectable black text on white background + white text on black background skins for the sake of accessibility and against eye strain. A poll should decide which one should be the default.

Thank you all for your feedback. This conversation has been fruitful both autohotkey.com and on the ahkscript.org. One thing seems clear between the 2 forum softwares the community prefer PHPBB3 as implemented on ahkscript.org
It also seems clear that most would prefer to archive the current autohotkey.com forum IP Boards ( locked but searchable) and move the ahkscript.org forum PHPBB3 to autohotkey.com.

It will take some time to implement without errors and we have some upcoming server maintanance ( OS Upgrade ) on autohotkey.com first.

The archival process will not be an immediate lockdown. There are existing threads that need to be completed.
  1. The first step will be to move the forum software from ahkscript.org to autohotkey.com
  2. A redirect from the ahkscript.org forum url will be applied
  3. I will generate a list of users that are not registered in that forum and send a notification that a new sign up may be required ( I will attempt a conversion and import ) to smooth the transition.
  4. Two weeks later I will disable new topics within IP Boards. Replies to existing topics will remain possible for another month after that before final lockdown.
Over the coming weeks and days I will post additional detail on each step. Every possible step to make changes transparently and smoothly to the community will be made

I have begun writing out an implementation plan to move this forum to autohotkey.com and i will publish it this evening in the staff forum
I would like input on the best time of day and which day of the week would be best for 1-4 hour outage window for the migration. I am aiming for a less than one hour move but in the IT industry you always schedule for the worst
