old versions of AutoHotkey

06 Apr 2017, 17:18

I wanted to test the scripts here, as part of my investigations into the AHK v2 GUI proposals:
AFC - AutoHotkey Foundation Classes v0.1 (Includes OOP GUI) - AutoHotkey Community
https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1798

'Example-ManyControls.ahk' wasn't working in the AHK versions I happened to have available, but apparently it does work in v1.1.14.03, so I would like to download that particular version of AutoHotkey.

Can we improve the collection of files here:
AutoHotkey Downloads
https://autohotkey.com/download/
to include more versions of AutoHotkey, and with zips of files (e.g. with the exe and chm files etc, in a folder hierarchy, as they appear in C:\Program Files\AutoHotkey) available to download, whenever 'extract' is not available in the installers.

Btw are these files available somewhere:
AutoHotkey 1.0 ("classic" and "basic" versions) - Announcements - AutoHotkey Community
https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/86134-autohotkey-10-classic-and-basic-versions/

Cheers.

Thank you for your response.

[this *had* v1.0.00 to v1.0.48.05]
[I think that these should be available *somewhere* on the official AutoHotkey website or on GitHub/a similar site]
[I am mostly interested in the chm files for these, but there may be other uses]

https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/86134-autohotkey-10-classic-and-basic-versions/

[btw I think that these should be on the current webpage somewhere]
[there may also be other important information from old versions of the website that should be returned to the current website]

you can literally take the GitHub repo and checkout any commit and compile for that versions binary. So no while we dont have copies for every binary literally every version ever released is available on github

I have the original binaries for versions 1.0.0.0 through 1.0.48.05 in installer version plus the zip versions for 1.0.36.07 through 1.0.48.05. About 82.6MB in all.
I may also have the source code for them but I'm not sure, I'd have to check my archive on a computer that's not ready to run yet.
If needed (and allowed) I could add a folder containing those binaries to my CloudMe repository.

Btw please don't forget about the AHK v1.1 versions!

Files are not always available to download at Internet Archive, e.g. you get a blank 'myfile_zip' instead of 'myfile.zip'. I will produce some code however.

[Here is the equivalent url for the AutoHotkey_L releases. They are zips of the source code, and do not include exe files. Note that 'after' in the urls, means later in the list, not newer chronologically.]
Releases · Lexikos/AutoHotkey_L · GitHub
https://github.com/Lexikos/AutoHotkey_L/releases?after=v1.1.15.01

[There are instructions on how to compile here:]
GitHub - Lexikos/AutoHotkey_L: AutoHotkey - macro-creation and automation-oriented scripting utility for Windows.
https://github.com/Lexikos/AutoHotkey_L

I use VS2013 and had errors if I tried to upgrade and then compile the projects, or otherwise 'please install Visual Studio 2010 build tools', which apparently is not straightforward, and might require installing another copy of Visual Studio.

So the original zips/installers, (and pre-extracted clones of the Program Files\AutoHotkey contents if an 'extract to...' option is lacking,) would be advantageous here. Plus for sharing purposes I'd rather give someone the original exe, with a documented file hash(es), rather than a custom compiled exe which may be different.

Thanks joedf, tank and Drugwash. I am very grateful for all the positive responses here.

[EDIT:]
It seems that the downloads were missing for a number of years, and it redirected to a page with an AHK Basic download. But everything was OK back at ahkscript.org. Admittedly I do know a little bit about what went on at this time.

I was able to download a version of AHK here, that worked for the script in my original question.

[EDIT:]
@joedf. It probably won't surprise you to know that I think a nice archive page is a great idea.

Re: old versions of AutoHotkey

Sorry, CloudMe is all I have in terms of online storage, it's the only one I know that still works (old version with tweaks) on my 98SE where I build, store and sync my AHK scripts.

Binaries have been uploaded here. (tip: to download everything in that folder as a single zip file use the Download - cloud with down-arrow - button at the top-right of the page)

There is a checksum file in that folder. Checksums (MD5 and SHA1) have been calculated using my own script (StorageMediaCatalog) so in the event of a mismatch between your tool's sum and the one in the text file try that script and see if the output matches. If mismatch persists please notify me so I'd reupload the offending file(s).

Unfortunately I didn't follow the v1.1 line closely so I have very few of those versions, scattered around, most likely on the same unavailable machine as the sources.

I know, it's been a double hit: first back when downloading the files (they all came with a 2006 date for some reason except for a few that were added later, it can be seen in the checksum file) and now on upload they were given the current date. However I'm not sure they had the original date back then on the AHK server, couldn't check that.

Thank you both, I did my best to help.
Joe, have you sorted out yet the old scripts archive from me? Just curious, no rush. :)

EDIT:
Yay, possibly good news: I just found a hosting site (apparently server is located in Sweden) that has a few of the binaries and they state the original file timestamp some timestamp (random?) on each download page. I've checked the checksums for first file and they both match. See here (and related downloads).
Funny the Google Custom Search box on that page returns no results for the 'AutoHotkey' keyword - maybe they were told to omit this particular keyword in their results.
However, DuckDuckGo's site search returns enough results (ignore language settings in URLs) --> DDG.

EDIT 2:
Just noticed one of the zips (1.0.37.05) has been broken for years due to a bad download. :(
All others including installers are OK, just tested them with 7-zip's test function.

It's OK, thanks. Please do take note of the broken archive I mentioned above.
I'll look for any v1.1 files as soon as possible, I managed to fire up the Linux machine but it's a 1TB-worth of unsorted software there so it may take a while.

Isn't it weird that sites dedicated to old software versions - such as FileHippo, FileHorse, OldVersion - only host one or two versions of AHK, if any?

I have worked out a full list of AHK version numbers (2003 onwards), available here, along with code for how to generate it:
list of every command/function/variable from across all versions - AutoHotkey Community
https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27321&p=142201#p142201

There are 91+1=92 versions of AutoHotkey_L not available at:

Added a subfolder containing all AHK_L versions I could find on my machines.
There's another broken zip (a Help file).
Some versions are incomplete (missing either installer, zip, Help, source or any combination thereof).
That's the best I could do. Hope to be of help.

Thanks jesswg! I really appreciate your work here. I went looking for the same previous version of AHK and your post was the first that showed up. I'm able to run the AFC Example-ManyControls.AHK now.
