Any good AHK courses out there?

29 Feb 2016, 22:39

Does anyone know of any good courses (paid or otherwise) out there for AHK? I was trying to send some documentation to a co-worker who was interested in diving in, but my list of links quickly grew out of hand.

These forums, the help files, and various newbie tutorials helped me quite a bit when I was getting started, but I wasted a lot of time spinning my wheels on some of the "gotchas" of AHK. I checked some of the big sites (PluralSight, Udemy, etc) but didn't see anything. Thought I'd ask here if there was anything known by the community to be helpful.

Thanks!

I learned it from tutorials and got help from people here. Helping out people in the Ask for help section.
When talking with someone about it that is more advanced you can really learn a lot.
There often are people in the IRC Channel that would be willing to help.

I haven't heard of any courses though.

Check youtube for autohotkey and ahk. Some of the advance ahk users created some really nice video tutorials that might help but as nnnik said read the docs, ask questions on the forum, and google search what you don't know.

Thanks for the replies, I think you're confirming what I already assumed.

The docs, forums, and google are great if you know what to search for. There's a few good videos on YouTube but they seem to be a hodge podge of random different tutorials that range significantly in quality.

For newbies, I think it's hard to beat someone walking you through via high quality video to speed up the learning process. If I were considering creating this content myself, would this forum be an appropriate place to gauge interest?

There is an incomplete book (you can find the link on the Awesome autohotkey list on github) but there are also some commercial books which you can find on Amazon by Jack Dunning (also a forum member I think) - I don't know if they are worth it but he also has a website I think.

You might try going to the Members section that list all members of the forum. Some members list their website addresses there. Some of them contain pretty good tutorial stuff.

I have browsed through the website of Blackholyman and it looks pretty well done.
