New Homepage - Scheduled Next Friday (Feb. 3, 2017)

27 Jan 2017, 21:38

The homepage is scheduled to be changed to Blackholyman's design (with a few modifications and optimizations) as discussed here: https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10484

This change is set to be done on the evening of February 3rd, 2017.

Will this resolve the requirement to use a Google Captcha in order to visit the site?

I'm not certain but there's always a possibility...
@guest2345 good idea, I'll publish a repo with this.

the homepage literally has nothing to do with the google captcha some people encounter when they trigger certain criteria with our WAF. (web application firewall)I have lowered the bridge on that as far as i dare having seemed to have found a good balance between impacts and letting the spam bots go completely crazy. I am sorry your adversely impacted, i truly am. I wont give up finding a better option but as you can imagine with limited time its a long process.

What I find strange is that very occasionally I get straight through to the site without the captcha. I wish the captcha didn't require me to enable google via no-script. I can't get through the captcha without allowing google which I draw the line at virtually every other site. This is the only site which I get stuck at so I don't know what is so unique about my browser and settings as to trip your WAF. But I do understand that you need to keep out the bots. Pity it can't be done without google. Cheers.

Is this the issue that I'm having? I can't access any archived posts on the forum when I come from google. For example, this link: https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/1022 ... d-program/ works if i copy-paste it into a browser, but when I opened it from google, I was blocked.

No, the issue is that when I visit the site I'm presented with a captcha in order to view any of the pages. To get past the captcha I have to allow Google scripts to work via NoScript. ( I usually have all google scripts disabled). Having said this my current visit is captcha free! I hope it can stay that way.

I personally think it's a lot better than the current horrible old 1800s homepage.
Maybe need a color redesign at bottom. ;)

I didn't make any changes to the images except for optipng and resize the smaller images... Some simple formatting and added some links etc...

If anyone disagrees with colours or designs or whatsoever, please submit a pull request or issue ticket on github.

The vote for this was unanimous. That said, whatever version is on github will effectively replace the current one this evening.

I hate to be a nit, but as the landing page for the official site, it should be correct.
This is not correct, grammatically speaking: "The awesome beginner-friendly, scripting language for Windows."
This is correct: "The awesome, beginner-friendly scripting language for Windows."

Two adjectives in a row need to be separated by commas. You do not put a comma in between an adjective and the noun it's modifying.

I personally don't like the word "awesome" here.

I don't know why I have a different image, I must have gotten an old version... I'll have changed accordingly tonight.

For the grammar, thanks for that. I haven't thoroughly check the text. This will also be corrected.

I will finally the revision tonight. Please feel free about any other changes I should make before it goes up. :+1:
