Hard to tell what's going on from one minute to the next.
As far as I can tell, now we have one theme, a broken 'digi'. File attachments are getting corrupted, PNG and GIF, or I'd post a pic.
Code tag is fixed but it now has different code. Forum speed ~= speeding turtle.
If this forum software is so difficult to administer, might it be time to explore some other options?

Yeah perhaps.
The problem still remains though.
One person cannot do all the maintenance work of this forum on their own.
I have asked for server access too in order to fix this and prevent this in the future.
Just need to share my public key then I'd be good to go - but I wouldn't count on me being able to do a lot.
I still need to learn a lot about the server maintenance.

Is it not possible to create an empty forum somewhere (with the same phpBB version number) and experiment with re-implementing code boxes there?

Yeah, it does seem like it might be good to explore the possibility of a test server, test forum, virtualbox... using possibly a backup... etc... Possibly test out changes there, then implement them on the live forum. I'm sure the super IT types would have an idea or two about that.

Is nodeBB free for self-hosting? Can it import phpBB data?

EDIT: nodeBB-like WIP phpbb theme? https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/style/prolight/

I'm guessing the "free" hosting plan is too restrictive for us - https://nodebb.org/pricing

They want the URL to have nodebb as the domain.

The script in the Code blocks are all messed up. All CR+LF characters are gone or they are being ignored. Please fix!

Edit: This is just one example. I tried using 2 different themes (prosilver and Simplicity) and the result was the same.

Weird... I have set your theme to Simplicity. Does that change anything?
