Forum Web Search hyperlink

02 Mar 2023, 09:35

There is a button hyperlink to the docs for Getting Started after navigating to the Web Search page from the forum. The hyperlink here is https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/Tutorial.htm#s1 but the redirect takes it to the v1 version. Wasn't sure if that was correct as I thought all things were being pointed to the v2 version. Perhaps the redirects default to v1 for a while though. Just thought I'd mention it.

Good catch, forgot to consider the search... :think:

Things like
https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/Objects.htm
Are currently redirect to
https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/v1/Objects.htm
Instead of
https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/v2/Objects.htm

So well just need to update that...

@Ragnar
is there anything that comes to mind that might be missing or need to consider? Other than just updating the redirect?

I was not directly involved in setting this up, but the current redirect behavior is correct. The old links reflect the v1 documentation. Changing the redirection to v2 documentation could cause confusion, e.g. if people click on an old link in a non-AHK forum and the content differs from what they expected, and could even cause issues as some v1 pages do not have a corresponding v2 page.

Officially, we now only have docs/v1/ and docs/v2/. The old links should no longer be used.

It is sufficient to change the links on the Web Search page to v2.

Okay, I've changed it to list "Documentation V1" and "Documentation V2" refinement options
