Back to forum button

28 Oct 2016, 07:20

Not really an issue. But I wish we had a link when viewing a topic to go back to the forum on the specified page that we were on (and maybe even scrolled to where the topic was on the page). The brower's back button works but the forum page isn't refreshed showing that you had already read that topic you were previously on, forcing you to refresh the page after going back.

The breadcrumbs don't work if you weren't on the first page of that particular forum. Many shopping sites have something like this I think.

I am not sure I have ever heard of such a feature. I know there is a "return to ..." link on the bottom.
Does that give you the same undesired result?

Not quite. It takes you back to the forum's first page as if the page was loaded from scratch. My hopes would be for it to go back to the same page of the forum that I was on, scrolled down to the post that I had just left, all while having the page *reload* to show that the topic had been read by me since the last reply to it. Ebay is a good example of this. When you enter a listing, there is a link near the top that says "Back to Search Results". This is what I'm thinking of.

Could you use AHK (or a JavaScript extension) to solve your problems, such that when you hit the backbutton on your browser it then refreshes half a second later?

Code: Select all

F12::
Send {Backspace}
Sleep 500
Send {F5}
return

I suppose I could. It doesn't bother me enough though to do that. Just seems like something the website could incorporate as I know it's something php can easily handle.

ALSO

I've been getting random 500 errors over the last couple days when trying to view one of the forums on this site. It works if I bypass that and go straight into a post though.

Yes, we've been having some minor issues with the server and tapatalk. We will have this fixed soon enough :)
