Hotstrings: Duplicate letter residues

For example this "::abc.::feet" will sometimes correctly give "feet" but maybe 1/3 of the time it will give "afeet" and very rarely "abfeet"

I have tested it with different words, and it seems it is the hotstring (i.e. "abc" in this example) that isn't removed properly before sending the answer (i.e. "feet")

This only happens in certain programs, especially Onenote, which is the one I need it for the most (but not in notepad for example).

I have tried typing it slowly, but it makes no difference.

Anybody know of a solution to this?
