Run on startup
I'd like my script to run on startup. I want to test and see if I can get my script to make itself able to start on startup without me having to manually put it in using a short-cut or anything like that. I know it sounds sketchy but I wanted to make a jump-scare script for my brother-in-law. Don't worry though, it has a keybind to exit the script.

Re: Run on startup
To add on to this, is there a way to make it so that, the first time the script is run, it will relocate somewhere deep in the files then THAT is run on startup? That way, even if they delete the first folder, the back up is elsewhere and it still runs everytime on startup?

Re: Run on startup
Also, I completed it and manually added it onto his PC. I ended up removing it after the gag was up, but I'd like to know for future reference. Here was the finished code:

Why don't you just put it in the Windows Startup folder, lol?

Ahhh, okay. Sorry for posting it. I don’t plan on making him suffer too much.RickC wrote:Please have a look at this post from forum admin joedf: (https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic ... 65#p160125)NO PRANKS or any other potentially harmful stuff is allowed!
I’m assuming that means just not to post it though. Does that mean I can still ask considering I’m not going to distribute it to anyone besides him?

Re: Run on startup
I can, but that’d require access to the PC. I meant if I could script it so it’d do it automatically if it was run.bballjoe12 wrote:Why don't you just put it in the Windows Startup folder, lol?
Re: Run on startup
Asking about how to get an AHK script to run from startup is fine. It was the prank nature and the specifics of your script (e.g. the use of SoundSet to raise the volume to max) that was the problem.Godswrath88 wrote:I’m assuming that means just not to post it though. Hope this helps...

I don't want to be malicious to anyone. I just prank people I know IRL sometimes.
But do you happen to know an answer to any of the aforementioned questions?
