bookmark a page to a specific folder in firefox without GUI scripting

Is it possible to bookmark the current page of the focused tab to a specific bookmark folder in Firefox without GUI scripting? I'd like to avoid GUI scripting because I'd like to create these kinds of macros for a lot of bookmark folders, I might change the name of each folder frequently and reorder them, and I want to make it stable and have it finish the whole process in the background so that even if I clicked somewhere in the middle of the process it won't matter.
I can use mozrepl but I don't believe mozrepl can manipulate bookmark folders?
