Start Explorer Shell

Using Win10 Enterprise and I have a replacement shell when w10 starts. Now if/when that shell stops, I need to automatically start the normal windows shell.
Running just explorer.exe brings up a folder/file view window and does not start the shell.
I'm sure it's possible, just have not found anything concrete.
