GUI Edit flickers on input past a certain size

For some reason when I set the font size of a GUI edit above roughly 45, the edit flashes each time I type a character. I've looked around the forums, and so far haven't spotted this specific issue elsewhere. Does anyone else experience this, and if so do you know of a fix? Thanks so much for your help!

Edit: it appears to happen generally when a sufficient area of the screen is covered by the edit's text. Even with a smaller font, once enough text is on the screen the flickering continues.
