I'm using Skype For Business 2016 on WIndows 7 (and, soon, Windows 10) and whenever I get message notifications, the tab (?) on the taskbar for the incoming message dialog flashes for several seconds, then fades to normal. The net result is that, when I'm not at my desk, I won't notice that someone Skyped me unless I am specifically looking at my taskbar. I can’t count the number of times I’ve found a message hours after someone sent it. I’ve looked, but there appears to be no setting or preference to change the amount of time the tab (?) continues to flash.
So, I'm wondering if there's a way to monitor / capture the event that starts a new Skype message dialog and either keeps the taskbar tab flashing or throws up a dialog box that doesn't steal focus. Maybe even just display the message dialog window, but without stealing focus.
FWIW, my background: I'm an IBM midrange app developer, and I rarely do anything on the PC side. I sometimes tweak VB macros in Excel that someone else wrote.
Is this doable for someone with my limited PC skillset using ahk?

I don't use it, but when that popup comes up is there a process that starts?
Or you can run a imagesearch loop for that specific area, that would be my last option

What little understanding I have of WIndows' processes, I'd say yes, but have no idea how to identify it.AHKStudent wrote:I don't use it, but when that popup comes up is there a process that starts?
I'm not aware of that one. I might look into that if a process can't be identified.AHKStudent wrote:Or you can run a imagesearch loop for that specific area, that would be my last option

O.k. I found sysinternals process monitor and used "Include Process from Window" on an already open Skype conversation dialog. It appears there are a dozen or so lync.exe processes. Not sure that any of these are from the flashing notification itself. Nothing stands out for that in the list of processes. I might need to the process monitor capturing everything and have someone send me a Skype message.

I use Skype for Business as well and I’ve never seen the flashing stop until I focus the Skype window.

I did some research, countless websites have users complaining about this https://www.skypefeedback.com/forums/29 ... ays-on-topDan400Man wrote:What version are you using? If you get around finding a unique process etc that takes place when that message box pops up im sure something can be built with ahk to capture it and set some popup message alert etc.
There is a product called supertoast that some use to solve this

Re: Skype For Business message notifications - How to keep flashing
Are you talking about the pop-up notification in the corner of the screen that shows the person's picture? Or just the taskbar icon?
Re: Skype For Business message notifications - How to keep flashing
Isn't this a deliberate limit of Windows (which can be disabled of course)?
