reprogramming Presentation remote - double hit?

Totally new to ahk.
I have a redstar tec presentation remote for powerpoint. I want to reprogram the start/stop slideshow button (LShift & F5) for alt-tab to switch when live recording using OBS. OBS detects the selected window and changes scenes.

LShift & F5::Alttab works as it should when I use it on the keyboard alone, and the presenter works properly with powerpoint. Other buttons like pageup/pagedn work fine in something like Word. BUT for alttab, the presenter doesn't switch on one click, I have to click twice. The result is the slideshow ends, then on the next click it will alt-tab.

I don't know why it takes two clicks to register just on the remote. It doesn't appear to be the remote doing it since it works fine in powerpoint, is there something special I need to think about when using alttab? Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated!
