Portable AHK version?

14 Sep 2018, 06:24

Hi, I am working on different computers, and for different reasons (multilanguage support, ergonomic typing) I use the Colemak Keyboard-Layout.
Currently I use PKL http://pkl.sourceforge.net/ on Windows PCs. PKL which is pretty good, but has some limitations when it comes to customization. E.g. I would like to remap some keys (CapsLock->second AltGr, because I need often the modifier key), which seems kind of a tricky business and there is no active community forum any more.
Isn't there a portable version of AHK considered any more?

PKL: CapsLock-=>Second AltGr

14 Sep 2018, 06:39

Hi, I am using AHK/PKL (http://pkl.sourceforge.net/) for having a portable Colemak keymap layout.

To have the modifier at a more convenient place when using the right hand, I would like to remap the CapsLock to a second AltGr.

Commenting the following line

Code: Select all

layout.ini
...
;CapsLock = OEM_1	0	={backspace}	*{CapsLock}	={backspace}	={backspace}	={backspace}
Changes the function of the CapsLock from Backspace (Standard Colemak) to CapsLock again, but I cannot figure out, how to change it to AltGr (Yes, I replaced the {backspace} by {AltGr} ;) ).

Another nice modification of Colemak is to use LShift + RShift => CapsLock. Again, no glue on how to do that with PKL.

Unfortunately, I cannot install with Administrator rights on some of the computers, so I have to use the portable/ PKL version. Clearly, I also cannot modify the registry as a normal user!

Any ideas how to get this done?

Best, Robert
