Opening URL in existing chrome window

For years I have used Run [URL] to launch a URL in a new tab in Chrome, but lately this command closes any existing Chrome tabs and opens the URL in a brand-new window. As far as I know, I haven't changed any settings on my computer and I haven't updated Chrome. Has anyone had this happen before? Very perplexing.
