Script to run Android apps in Windows

17 Apr 2018, 10:40

Hi All,

This is my first 'real' script in AHK. It came out pretty well, so I thought I'd share.

Android has useful apps that I'd like to use in Windows 10; in particular, a home-automation program called ImperiHome, which I also run on my phone. I searched for a low-resource Android emulator for Windows, and settled on one called Andy (Andy OS) available at http://www.andyroid.net. It works fine, but one cannot control how and where the program starts up: Andy tends to want to be a large, landscape window in the center of the screen. This would be fine if I wanted to essentially replace Windows with Android -- play games, watch a movie, etc. -- but I want to treat Android as an side act to monitor remote tasks. So, this script, opens Andy, waits until it's fully loaded -- which turned out to be something of a pain -- and then makes it into a small window in the corner. After I got that running, I added transparency and an opaque-on-hover feature.

Enjoy, and let me know if you find any problems.

Regards,
-BW
