Can I use the source code of ImageSearch ?

I want to create an auto splitter by image with LiveSplit (a splitable chronometer).
The problem is that I've not so much known with licence, so do he GPL2 licence allow to just take just the function, or I must take the entire file or the complete project to use it? And I also want to be sure that it's OK with you.
