I use https://kdenlive.org/
it's completely free, but it isn't quite quite the same quality as commercial software. but still pretty good.

hitfilm looks great, but I lack social media accounts to leave a false thumbs-up to get it (it might be a buggy mess. who knows, let people Like it after they try it and love it).
