so I want to auto automate lights in my home and etc ...
what is the best choice to go with?
so far I have a Geeni - as I thought they have a wide range of products ...
I got bulbs https://www.amazon.com/Geeni-2700-6500K-Dimmable-Compatible-Assistant/dp/B089QRFF9B/
and
LED strip https://www.amazon.com/Geeni-Brighter-Temperature-Compatible-Multicolor/dp/B07TBHBHXJ/
I'm shocked that there is no PC software to control them
they made it so that you can control them ONLY from iPhone or Android App
BUT they can also integrate into Alexa and Google Assistant
I'm thinking maybe there is a way ... or I hope there is some way to make it work via a PC
(and eventually via hot keys ... to bring lights up and down / change color ...)
anyone has any advice on this?
(so far my only alternative to control from a PC - is to run an Android Emulator with the Geeni app on it and use my mouse ... but so far even via Android Studio - Pixel 5a - on Android v10 - says Google Play store says: "Your device isn't compatible with this version" hmmm
)
any advice is much appreciated
thank you

Re: home automation
- use the lamps as ure told. capture the traffic that theyre receiving. reverse engineer the protocol. replicate that traffic urself
- flash a different firmware into the bulbs that has a known documented API. use it to control the bulbs

yes little to do with AHK
Re: home automation
Hi
why little to do with AHK ?
I did the same, wiresharink your device makes you able controlling it by CURL-commands.
Those CURL-commands are easy to handle by AHK, so you control your device by AHK.

Why didn't you choose Xiaomi products for home automation?

Re: home automation
Are Xiaomi products better for home automation? Asking for a friend.
Re: home automation
Hi
if you are able to reengineer those products, you can use them as well. Requirement is, that you know, how to talk with those products programmatically eg. by curl

Re: home automation
Hallo.
I am developing an alternative home automation system (it is very complicate, but very interesting).
It is an hardware and software system; it is an alternative system because it is no based on any existing system.
If you are interested it is possible to develop it here.
