Why is it that whenever I use make a new macro script and run it for the first time, the script colors are gone and it basically becomes into a text file. I don't know why this is and the script runs but nothing happens.

Sounds like you’re running it as text, so it'll open within a standard editor without syntax coloring/highlighting + it will be executed as text instead of being interpreted by autohotkey.exe

That IS right but I don't how to fix that. I am pretty new and I have also tried saving it in different file types. I would really appreciate the help.

As said, you've to assign it (the *.AHK extension) to autohotkey.exe. Good luck
